Royal Malaysian Customs Now at PKFZ
Port Klang, January 31, 2007 – The
Royal Malaysian Customs today officially took over responsibility
for enforcement of Malaysian Customs rules and regulations
at Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) in a simple but meaningful ceremony
here.
Selangor Customs Director Dato’ Haji Abdul Razak bin
Yaacub symbolically received the “key” to the Customs
Gate from Tuan Haji Salihuddin Yussuf, Assistant General Manager
(Adminstration) on behalf of Datin Paduka O.C Phang, General
Manager of the Port Klang Authority (PKA) which owns PKFZ.
Also present was PKFZ General Manager Mr. Noel Gulliver and
invited guest from various Government departments and Selangor
State Government agencies.
In handling over the “key” to Dato’ Haji
Razak, Haji Salihuddin said this was an important milestone
for PKFZ on its journey towards being a successful free zone
for Malaysia and in the South-east Asian region.
Port Klang Authority also thanked the department for making
this handover possible soon after the completion of the Free
Zone.
Describing the relationship between PKA and Royal Malaysian
Customs over the years as excellent, Haji Salihuddin expressed
confidence that it would be extended to PKFZ which would help
the Government attract more foreign investments into the country.
In his welcome address. Mr. Gulliver said the Free Zone Authority
looked forward to working closely with the Customs to ensure
smooth and fast track procedures are observed at the Customs
Gate.
The Customs Gate, he added, was also designed to house various
other Government departments like Health, Agriculture, Veterinary
Services, Pharmaceutical Services and Immigration. |
